The Female Gaze flips the male gaze: the creator is a woman, the characters are women, and the spectators are women. Fresh Squeezed Opera aims to put women on an equal level to men in the performance of operatic works, and celebrate the unique idioms and perspective that women composers offer in their works.
This next iteration of The Female Gaze includes the commissioning, development, and presentation of new works by Whitney George, Gemma Peacocke, and Gabi Herbst for female voice, ensemble, and electronics.
I'm excited to be joining Cantanti Project for this concert, part of the United Palace of Cultural Arts' Lobby Series. I'll be performing works by Eva Dell'Acqua, Amy Beach, and the famous Flower Duet from Lakmé!
Some distances are small, some are big; some distances are measured by miles, and some by hopes and fears. Through opera, musical theater, and popular songs, Cantanti Project goes on a musical journey about the excitement of new adventures, the strength it takes to pursue your dreams, and the importance of finding a place where you belong.
Featuring music from Carmen, Lakmé, Peter Pan, Beauty and the Beast, and favorites such as "Somewhere over the Rainbow" and "Besame Mucho."
A celebration of Emily Dickinson & the power of women
Join New Camerata Opera at Dixon Place for an evening of poetry and song, celebrating the indelible Emily Dickinson. Featuring an all-female cast of New York City-based artists, immerse yourself in Dickinson’s web of words through the music of Larsen, Laitman, Hagen, Copland, Walker, Bacon, Hall and more. With Nora Bartosik at the piano, take a journey through Dickinson’s body of work as we unleash the strength that comes when women are fully free to express themselves.
The Victor Herbert Renaissance Project Live! presents:
Victor Herbert's 1911 Operetta -- The Enchantress
The Prince has come of age. Time to marry — but which Princess shall he choose? From the bevy presented to him, where does true love come in? Add to that dilemma, all manner of devious advisors who wouldn’t mind sitting on his throne themselves. Then there’s that divine, delicious non-royal Enchantress. What’s a fellow to do? Here’s the all time most requested Herbert aria, “Art Is Calling For Me,” along with “The Land of My Own Romance,” “Rose, Lucky Rose,” not to mention “They All Look Good When They’re Far Away.” The New Victor Herbert Orchestra and VHRP LIVE! weave an evening of raucous intrigue and romantic love, sprinkled with a healthy dash of that new 1911 craze, “dance!”
